Tech Specs:
I first bought a Palikoa to try out after using a Critr3 for a while. Then my wife and daughters (8,10 and 12) tried it. They really liked the different starting modes and how easy they could change the amount of friction. So then I bought 4 more! They all used it on their very first canyon with me. After using it on the first rappel in a actual waterfall they felt so confident, they weren't afraid of not being able to slow down. Even my 8 year old had no hesitation on a slippery 70' waterfall!!

The Palikoa Pivot is not just a Rappel descender device , there’s multiple options and configurations to be use on Rescue load. We personally put it to the test during a technical mountain and canyon rescue training with our team. The configuration we use was the Twin tension rope system (TTRS). Using 9mm rope for light weight rope operations and twin VT prusik for brake assistance and progress capture. The versatility of having 2 holes (pivot configuration) make it easier to set up break system

So many options for friction and rigging. I love that the hooked arms allow me to move my brake hand out to brace or help downclimb while on soft starts (with sand traps) without compromising friction at all.
After starting with a basic figure 8 and slowly moving up 3 other descenders I tried this and will never look back! Great all around device for rappelling .
